Wood burning hobo stove
Guy Radford November 30th, 2008
Today I played with an idea for a portable wood burning stove. I have read lots of discussions on line and wanted to try one for myself.

I used a cutlery drainer, this one came from Wilkinsons and cost about 99p, Ikea do one too.
It worked well, but it was a calm day, but the wind did keep blowing the fire trough the holes and out the side. I may try wrapping some tin foil round to cover all but the bottom and top holes.
It did burn really well and for a first go I was happy.
My aim is to make a system that packs into my billy can. But like most people I have lots of different kit and never sure what to take. What really appeals is that you can find fuel anywhere. It was raining so I just collected a little standing dead wood, split it and had a fire in a few minutes and bizarrely the cutlery drainer is lighter that a Click Stand.
