Nettle Tea
Guy Radford March 14th, 2009
I have known about nettle tea for some time but never got round to trying it. Well today I plucked up the courage, courage is not really the right word, it is more about time and remembering at the right time.

I had noticed a patch of fresh young nettles so I carefully plucked a few of the youngest tips, washed them and poured over boiling water. I let it steep for a few minutes. What a lovely refreshing drink. I even ate the leaves.

I have also heard of making nettle tea by boiling the nettles, to me this sounds like it would make a very strong tea, but each to their own.
Nettles are high in iron and also contain calcium and folic acid. Nettles can be steamed and used as a spinach like vegetable or made into a soup.
There are other teas that can be made these include Pine, Rosehip, Borage and many more. If you are more into coffee then you can try dandelion root, or acorn coffee. More on these another time.
