Today was ment to be an 8 hour walk. We were woke up at 6:30 with tea in bed followed by a bowl of hot water for washing and porage, sausage and egg for breakfast.
At 8:30 we set of pole pole (Swahili for slowly, pronounced poly poly). We kept stopping for wee an drinks. At 3600 meters we stopped for lunch soup followed by pasta. At this point venessa was not feeling well and suffering from the altitude, she was being sick. We kept going and she did well to kepp going too. But we were getting slower and slower. Venessa was needing more and more help. We finally made it to camp at around 8 pm nealy 12 hours after we set out! We were all shatterd and suffering from exastion. After a small dinner we all went to bed early.
We all woke up the next day feeling much better and ready for today’s climb to 4200 meters.

We left at 13:30 and slowly walked to the first camp. We arrived 17:30 after two stops. We has a little drizzle, but not enough to require coats.
We have just got into the mess tent for tea and popcorn. Very sureal!
The walk passed through forest/jungle. Then we passed through the tall fern fields. Crossed a few rivers. But as yet we have not seen the summit.

Up at 7, bus loaded. And now a 3-4 hours drive to Rongai. The first part is tarmac followed by dirt roads.

It’s big. Can’t see it very well as there is lots of cloud. I can just see the snow covered peek. It just rises out of the ground! Awesome.
As I have written this the cloud has hidden the summit again.
The picture does not do the flims justice…. Asuming u cab see the summit!!!
